We're almost all moved in. Our households goods came and we've gotten the boxes down to about knee level. Roger still has to put in a few finishing touches but he's madly working on it (with a little prodding from his big sister). It's gotten too cold to do any landscaping until next spring. We're totally enjoying the fireplace. In fact, the first week, it saved us. We had no heat, but the insulating value of the house is so good that, even though it got down to about 25 outside, it only got down to about 60 inside. A good sweatshirt and a fire made it nice. We've had folks over to enjoy the hot tub and I am back to being a cooking fiend with the great kitchen - especially now that my commute to work is down from 65 miles to 21. We've gotten a dog, a 4 year old border/aussie. Haven't named him yet, but are taking suggestions. He's shy but coming around (we think he was abused). He certainly knows how to behave himself and follows commands well. SAM, our cat, isn't sure of him and doesn't yet realize that he could care less about her being around. We're now taking reservations - are going to have to do a spread sheet as we're getting lots of visit requests! No problem, we built this house for friends and family and welcome anyone who wants to come enjoy Colorado.

We're down to days now!!!!!
We should have the house almost finished this week, have the Certificate of Occupancy early next week, have the construction clean-up crew do their work and be in by the 15th!!! Then our household goods are being delivered the week after that. It's really looking nice. They finished off the courtyard and front porch this weekend and it is fabulous. I included a picture of that as well as the mechanical room. It supposed to be state-of-the-art and the most efficient heating system out there. But it looks like you need a degree in Engineering (not to mention a good head for mazes) just to follow the pipes. It's actually going to be digitally run and adjusted via satellite internet! Amazing!!!

Almost There

Progress continues
Lots of stuff going on in the house. The showers are tiled. The master bath shower is pretty rocky, but beautiful. The 2nd bath is going to be really nice with the tiled shower and Mexican Talavera sink. They're working on the vanities now. The window trim is almost done and the fireplace is finished. It's AMAZING!!! Tomorrow, they'll start the outside stucco and the granite countertops come in next week. The cabinets are made and Roger's busy making the door facings from knotty alder. Today, the plumbers were out working on the mechanical room. Looks like you need an engineering degree just to follow all the pipes and valves for the solar heated flooring on the main floor and in the basement. This house can't be done soon enough!

Making Good Progress
Things are moving along quickly now and we actually anticipate being able to move in next month. We thought we'd never see that day! The fireplace will be finished this week and the wall plaster on. The last of the windows come in tomorrow and then the stucco can be put on the outside. The granite counter tops are also being templated tomorrow. We're now into picking wall colors, tiles, etc. It's nice to see it all come together! Even the neighbor's horse can't wait until we move in (we give her horse candy!). Yep, that's Roger, the builder sitting on the Great Room Island.

Awesome fireplace!
They started building the fireplace today and it's incredible! Should finish it in the next couple days. They're working on finishing all the trim so they can plaster the walls. Then it's a matter of painting. The countertops will go in in a couple weeks. We have electricity now. Once that's all finished up, we can install the hot tub! Should be in by next month!! Yippee!!! Can't wait to have our first gathering!

We're rocking now!
Lots of progress in the past couple weeks! The courtyard porch is covered now, the solar panels have been installed on the roof, all six sliding glass doors are in and the drywall is progressing well. All this just makes it harder to wait to move in! In addition, our garden is now producing lots of zucchini, lettuce, peppers and tomatoes! The melons and root vegetables will soon follow!
